Traveling with Service Animals For our customers with disabilities, Amtrak Cascades accepts service animals in all areas of our stations, trains, and Thruway buses. Relatively to your travel with us, we ensure that it is safe, inclusive, and accommodating. What Qualifies as a Service Animal Service animals include dogs trained to aid a specific person in relation to their mental or physical disability. We have a policy as of June 2024 that only allows dogs to be service animals. Any other animal such as an emotional support animal, comfort animal, or animals in training do not qualify and must abide by the pet policy for carry-on pets. Where Service Animals Are Allowed Service animals are welcome in: Traveling with Your Service Animal – Key Guidelines Service dogs are required to be under your direct control at all times. Unless it hinders the dog’s functions, utilize a leash, harness, or tether. The animal must be well-brought up and house trained. Aggressive or disruptive animals will not be aloud to board the train or will be removed once on board. Children (2–12) – 50% Off Children aged between 2 and 12 qualify for 50% off the lowest available adult fare on most routes. Discounts apply on all other routes too. Key Guidelines: Infants (Under 2 Years) – First Child Rides Free One accompanying adult fare lets one infant travel for free. They do not require their own seat. Each additional child, who doesn’t sit in an adult’s lap, will be required to buy a 50% ticket. Note: If more than one child travels with an adult, a reservation needs to be made for the extra child. Seniors – 10% Off Any traveler who is 65 or older is able to get a 10% discount from the lowest available fare. For cross-border services, passengers who are 60 years old get the same offer. Requirements & Limitations: Persons with Mobility Impairments – 10 Percent Off Discount Guests aged 18 and above traveling with mobility challenged individuals travel at 10% less as well. Military Members – 10% Off Dependents and spouses of active-duty military personnel are able to avail a 10% discount on most train services. We also extend a token of appreciation by allowing in uniform military personnel to board the ticketed trains from the head of the queue. Guidelines for the discount: Veterans – 10% Off U.S. Military veterans from recognized branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, and others) are eligible for a 10% discount with appropriate identification from the aforementioned military forces Exclusions of Primary Importance: Group fares – Sharable fares of up to 60% off for groups Have up to 8 people on a single reservation? You’re in luck! Group travelers can now get opposing discounts per extra person added. Post important info: Students (17-24) – Special offer of 15% off.
