Traveling with Service Animals For our customers with disabilities, Amtrak Cascades accepts service animals in all areas of our stations, trains, and Thruway buses. Relatively to your travel with us, we ensure that it is safe, inclusive, and accommodating. What Qualifies as a Service Animal Service animals include dogs trained to aid a specific person in relation to their mental or physical disability. We have a policy as of June 2024 that only allows dogs to be service animals. Any other animal such as an emotional support animal, comfort animal, or animals in training do not qualify and must abide by the pet policy for carry-on pets. Where Service Animals Are Allowed Service animals are welcome in: Traveling with Your Service Animal – Key Guidelines Service dogs are required to be under your direct control at all times. Unless it hinders the dog’s functions, utilize a leash, harness, or tether. The animal must be well-brought up and house trained. Aggressive or disruptive animals will not be aloud to board the train or will be removed once on board.
